PESHAWAR: Pesco directed to ensure smooth power supply

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, April 26: The Speaker NWFP Assembly, Kiramatullah Khan Chagharmati, on Saturday directed the officials of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) to ensure smooth power supply to the suburban areas of the city.

Referring to peoples’ complaints against Pesco’s lower staff, the speaker directed the senior engineer of Pesco, who met him in his chamber, to improve performance of the concerned staff and redress the peoples’ grievances.

Kiramatullah Chagharmati also asked for installation of transformers at Bilalabad (Char Pareza), Gulabad and Khan Gul Garhi areas.

According to a spokesperson, the speaker in his speech to a gathering at Gulabad, Daudzai said that the only solution to the power crisis was the use of energy savers and construction of new dams at Basha, Munda and other identified spots.

He said that the Chinese government had committed to send 10 million energy saver bulbs in order to save electricity.

The speaker also asked the people to avoid unnecessary usage of electricity so that Pesco could be able to minimise the duration of load shedding in the city.

About the flour crisis, he claimed that the situation would improve within a few days.

The speaker said that the government was working on various options in order to overcome the crisis.
