Rowers shine in China

ISLAMABAD, April 25: The Pakistan pair of Mohammad Akram and Naimat Karim on Friday moved into the double-sculls semi-finals of the Asian Qualifying Round of rowing competitions for the Beijing Olympics.

The qualifying round is in progress at the Water Sports Centre in Shanghai, China, while the semi-finals will be held on Saturday.

According to reports available here, Akram and Naimat finished second in the Lightweight Double Sculls Heat and thus confirmed their place in the last four.

Sixteen teams took part in the competition.
