LAHORE, April 25: Punjab Chief Minister Dost Muhammad Khosa said on Friday the panels interviewing officers for various slots had been constituted with his consent.
He was talking to reporters at the inauguration of the three-day International Diabetes Conference 2008 at a local hotel here on Friday. The event is being organised by the King Edward Medical University and the European Association for Study of Diabetics. Mr Khosa expressed support for the process when he was asked whether he was consulted over interviews being conducted by PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif at his residences.
Answering another question, he said the judiciary would be restored in the best interest of the country.
Earlier, speaking at the conference, Khosa said the government was determined to provide maximum relief to the masses. However, he said, the problems the country was facing could not be solved overnight. People should give time to the government to deliver, he demanded.
College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan President Zafarullah Chaudhry said early detection of diabetes helped patient get rid of it. He said the CPSP would provide financial support for any initiative to control the disease. KEMU Prof of Medicine Dr Javed Akram said a policy guideline on diabetes would be formulated in consultation with the specialists of the field at the conference, which would be quite helpful in checking the disease in the country. He said the number of diabetes patients had been rising due to unavailability of referral system and standardised treatment.—Staff Reporter
