Punjab ministers say consensus must for dam

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, April 25: Kalabagh dam being a controversial project can only be constructed after consensus, said Punjab Senior Minister Raja Riaz and six newly inducted ministers of the PPP.

They were talking to journalists at Soomra House in Ratodero on Thursday. Paying tributes to Ms Benazir Bhutto they said present assemblies will make pro-people decisions. They said Benazir was assassinated to weaken the federation.

Previous governments’ flawed and defective policies had led to the shortage of wheat as rulers exported the commodity at lower rates and purchased at higher, they said.

On Friday, they visited Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto and laid floral wreaths at the graves of Z.A. Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto and offered Fateha.

They also visited the graves of Karsaz tragedy victims.

People raised slogans of ‘Jeay Bhutto,” “Jeay Benazir” and “Zindah hai Bhutto Zindah hai.

Talking to journalists, Raja Riaz vowed to accomplish the mission of Benazir Bhutto. Replaying to another question he said the coalition government in Punjab was a must for the democracy.

Punjab Finance Minister Farooq Ahmed said the NFC award would be decided after consultation with all the provinces.
