534 armymen inducted in civil depts in 9 years

ISLAMABAD, April 24: Minister in charge of the Establishment Division on Thursday told the National Assembly that a total of 534 serving and retired officers of the armed forces were appointed in various federal government departments since 1999.

The information was placed before the house in response to a question of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Chaudhry Mohammad Barjees Tahir during the question hour.

The government also provided a complete list of all the military officers who were appointed in the government departments through the Establishment Division.

The minister said the information regarding those army officers whose appointment cases were not routed through the Establishment Division was being called for and would be placed before the National Assembly as soon as possible.

The list contains names of officers of almost all the ranks from Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy. These army officers were posted on lucrative positions in various departments, including Karachi Port Trust, Port Qasim Authority, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, National Highways Authority, Defence Division, Railways, Interior Division, Northern Areas Police, Chief Minister’s Secretariat Punjab, Institute of Regional Studies, National Fertiliser Marketing Limited, National Telecommunication Corporation, Evacuee Trust Property Board, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, National Institute of Electronics, Karachi Electric Supply Company, Oil and Gas Development Company, Civil Aviation Authority, Pakistan Steel Mills, PM Secretariat, Federal Public Service Commission, Housing and Works, Pakistan Television Corporation, Marine Fisheries Department, National Accountability Bureau, Wapda, Overseas Pakistanis Foundation and Heavy Industries Taxila.
