Bilal’s efforts in vain as DUHS enter semi-finals


KARACHI, April 23: Bilal Ahmed scored 47 points but could not save the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) from losing against the Dow University of Health and Science (DUHS) 67-92 in the quarter-final of the seventh AKU Inter-university basketball tournament at the AKU Sports Centre Gymnasium here on Tuesday.

The winners led the first half 46-25.

Fahad Ahmed (26 points) was the top scorer for the victors.

In another quarter-final, the Institute of Business and Management overpowered the Jinnah Medical and Dental College (JMDC) 74-53.

The winners took 41-20 lead in the first half.

Hammad Khan scored 28 points while Lavesh Rakhani 21 points for the winners.

Haseeb Hussain (23 points) and Zubair Chatta (22 points) tried to resist the defeat but in vain.

The Ziauddin Medical University (ZMU) defeated the Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM) 49-40.

Asghar Khan scored 30 points but could not save the AIDM from losing.

The Aga Khan University (AKU) zapped the Greenwich University 42-27.

Noman Fazal with 19 points was the main contributor of the winners.—Agencies
