LAHORE, April 23: The bay filly Dream Act took complete advantage of her flying start to outpace her 13 rivals in order to win the over 900 metres feature event during the day/night midweek Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse on Wednesday.Dream Act who is trained by Amjad Ali and was ridden by M. Atif, beat Love Minister by two lengths after a long chase with bay mare Faryal and filly Creek Cat completing the frame.

Backed as the three-to-two favourite, Dream Act registered her career’s second win in six weeks for owner Sohrab Khan. This was the fifth race of the six-event card, a class six, division two handicap race.

The odds-on favourite bay mare Geo Super lived up to the confidence reposed in her by her connections by winning the third race. She was the day’s best performer. Owned by Khawaja Mohammad Asif Hassan, the mare was piloted home by jockey Salahuddin.

Meanwhile the five-year-old grey mare Muskan made amends for her last defeat by nosing out the bay horse Shandar at the finishing line in an exciting finish in the last race. Chestnut gelding Billoo Love finished a close third, separated by a head’s margin in a photo-finish. The winner was ridden by riding boy Shakeel Mahmood and trained by Rashid Latif.

The fourth race saw the biggest upset of the day when four-year-old red-roan filly So Romantic beat the even-money favourite Mama Mia by half a length’s margin. Sun Shine and Shah Rani completed the board among a dozen runners.

Only three well-backed horses won in a card of six events, all gone over the 900 metres distance.
