FAISALABAD, April 23: A newborn was kidnapped from the Allied Hospital here on Wednesday. Reports said Shamim Akhtar of Akbarabad gave birth to a baby boy two days ago at the gynaecology ward of the Allied Hospital.

The newborn was with his grandmother at Outdoor Patient Department (OPD) for some medication when an unidentified man posing as staff member took away the baby.

Aslam, father of the victim, filed an application with the Civil Lines police, stating that an unidentified man asked his mother to bring a slip from the counter for injection. The woman handed over the baby to the accused who managed his escape.

Police have registered a case with no arrest.
