Traffic police hold singing contest among students

ISLAMABAD, April 22: The capital traffic police on Tuesday arranged a singing competition among students of various educational institutions to create rapport between the law enforcers and the youth.

The nine participants, including three girls, received great applause from the audience for their performances, comprising both pop and classical songs.

The first prize was won by Jehangir from Islamabad Model College for Boys G-8/1, second by Kamran from Al-Farabi School and third by Yusra Gul from Al-Makhtoom School, while the fourth and consolation prize was won by Ali Khalid of City School.

Two singers, Babar Niazi and Javed Niazi, also performed while the famous song of Watan Ke Sajeele Jawano sung by Nusrat Dastageer was dedicated to the Islamabad Traffic Police.

Inspector Mohammad Ishtiaq of the ITP also enthralled the audience with his performance by singing a famous song originally sung by Madam Noor Jehan.

Three famous singers and musicians — Rukhsana Murtaza, Ali Imran and Nawazish — were among the judges who appreciated the efforts of the young singers and hoped that hey would achieve laurels in future with practice and guidance.

The students greatly appreciated the ITP initiative and hoped that such events would also be organised in the future.

On the occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Zubair Hashmi urged the students to observe traffic discipline and help the police in ensuring safer road environment in the city

“You are the next generation and if you will be disciplined, there will be no problem in maintaining a safer road environment in the capital,” he said.

He also announced cash prize of Rs2,000 for each of the participants.
