SRINAGAR: Indian police found the body of a Norwegian skier on Monday on the slopes of a popular ski resort in Kashmir, a senior officer said.

Franciska Rogne, 26, was last seen in early January this year, leaving her resort in Gulmarg and heading for the slopes before heavy snowstorms set in. Gulmarg, west of Srinagar, the summer capital of Kashmir has been attracting a lot of foreign skiers since a cable car was extended from a resort to a mountain top in 2005.

“We have found her body in Gulmarg,” S.M. Sahai, a senior police officer said on Monday. Gulmarg is frequented mostly by adventurous tourists as the resort is in a militarised zone.An avalanche killed an Australian skier last year in the area.—Reuters
