ISLAMABAD, April 20: Local amateur and professional photographers put some of their best works of the unusual, the beautiful and the memorable at an exhibition here on Sunday.

Ms Veiera Lengeova, wife of the Czech ambassador and an accomplished photojournalist, opened the exhibition organised by Islamabad Camera Club at the Lok Virsa.

From hobbyist creations to serious works of art, the display of coloured and black-and-white photographs included diverse and wide-ranging subjects to show the extraordinary depth, breadth and technical genius, as well as aesthetic virtuosity.

Almost fantasy driven photographs, incorporating the everyday and clinical pieces, the exhibition integrated landscapes, still life and figurative photography, images of ancient architecture besides many more.

Works included photographs like the Glorious Past by S.Deedar, snowcapped Nangaparbat by Wasimuddin Ahmad, a beautiful Peacock in Attitude by Farheen Riaz, children playing in Precious Joy of Time by Nabila Irum Pervez, a Solitary Evening by Yasir Nisar besides many more.

The ICC on the occasion also unveiled its best photographer and presented Muhammad Hanif Malik with a lifetime achievement award. An entire panel was dedicated to his black and white stunning original prints.

An auto-engineer by profession, Hanif Malik made photography his passion and has been capturing stunning visuals since 1950.

The 74-year-old photographer specialises in 3-D photography and claims to be the only photographer to be practising his art in this particular field in the developing world.

The selection board included the president, Photographic Society of Pakistan, Syed Javed Qazi, Col Khan Omar, a senior and internationally recognised photographer and Sheikh Muhammad Amin, a representative of Photographic Society of America (PSA), said ICC secretary-general, Dr Khurshid Ahmad who is also a Consultant Pathologist.

ICC also present first prize to Mujahid Awais from Quetta for best images, Abdul Razaq Vance was awarded second position and Pervez Mirza’s works were declared third best in the show.

The exhibition which was an annual event marked the clubs 10th anniversary. The camera club was established in 1998 and had over 270 members.
