Policemen booked for detaining man

TOBA TEK SINGH, April 19: On the orders of the Lahore High Court, Chuttiana police on Saturday registered a case against its two sub-inspectors and as many ASIs for unlawfully arresting a citizen of Bhakkar in a dacoity case.

Rana Saeed Ahmad of Bhakkar had filed a petition with the LHC stating that his brother Naveed Ikhlaq was arrested and tortured by Chuttiana police in a dacoity case. According to Saeed, Ikhlaq is still in illegal custody.

On the orders of Justice Khurshid Anwar Bhinder, a bailiff recovered Naveed Ikhlaq from the police station and produced him before the court which ordered registration of a case against the officials.

Police have registered a case under sections 342, 337 and 465 of the PPC against two SIs Muhammad Akram and Muhammad Rafiq and ASIs Muhammad Nawaz and Ghulam Mustafa.

INJURED: As many as 12 people were injured at Chak 681/22 GB near Pirmahal on Saturday in a clash over a children quarrel.

Reports said some children quarrelled in the playground and one was beaten up by others. Later, their elders attacked each other with sticks, axes and knives as a result 12 people from both sides were injured.

The injured were admitted to Pirmahal rural health centre from where four were referred to DHQ hospital due to their critical condition.
