SUKKUR April, 19: Sindh Flour mills Association chairman Mohammad Iqbal Dawood has said that Sindh Government decision to stop the Flour mills from buying wheat from open marker is unwise and unjust. In a statement, he also criticised government decision to suspend wheat quota of the Flour mills and said that if the mills did not receive wheat, they would not be able to produce flour.

He advised the government to stop poultry feed mills from buying wheat, which is used in preparing chicken feed, instead of stopping Flour mills from buying wheat. He said that large scale smuggle of wheat to Afghanistan was taking place which should be stopped.

He said that the government policies, including the ban on wheat movement from one district to another, could create a flour crisis in Karachi.

He said that there was no cultivation of wheat in Karachi and the adjoining areas and added that within two days the price of a wheat bag has had risen from Rs1700 to Rs1800.

He appealed to the Sindh chief minister to review the decision to stop Flour mills from purchasing wheat from private channels.
