PML-Q vows to contest bypolls

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, April 18: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Pervaiz Elahi has said the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) will take part in by-elections and would ensure its win as the ruling coalition has failed to deliver.

He said this at a meeting of the Lahore PML-Q held in connection with by-elections here at his residence on Friday.

Mr Elahi said the PML-Q had served the masses with missionary zeal in the past and with the same spirit it again entered the assemblies.

He said the ruling alliance had increased the prices of petroleum products twice, besides flour was not available in majority parts of the country after which the masses were forced to commit suicide. He said the ruling alliance did nothing for the fulfillment of their promises instead they had launched an unending period of victimisation of political opponents which would damage the democracy and democratic institutions.

He said a strong PML-Q guaranteed a strong Pakistan and in order to strengthen the party, it should be reorganised at the grassroots level. He asked the participants to accelerate their contacts with the masses in order to ensure the victory of PML candidates in by-elections.

The meeting was attended by Mian Munir Ahmed, Akhlaq Ahmed Guddu, Moonis Elahi, Chaudhry Ashraf, Maj (retd) Habibullah Warraich, Chaudhry Mansha Sandhu, Khwaja Tahir Zia, Sardar Kamil Omer, Tariq Sana Bajwa, Malik Asghar Khan and Chaudhry Ashiq Diyal.
