HYDERABAD: International Mushaira to be held next month

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, April 17: The modalities to organize an international Mushaira in a befitting manner on May 18 at Nursery Ground, Latifabad-6, by the district government were discussed at a meeting of the organizing committee on Thursday.

The meeting was held at the office of Hyderabad District Naib Nazim Zafar Rajput.

Keeping in view the experience of last year’s international Mushaira, the meeting discussed seating arrangement for more than 3,000 participants with provision of different facilities, including washrooms. It was decided that special arrangements would be made for women participants.

Mr Rajput directed the police officers to make foolproof security arrangements in such a way that neither local participants nor guests from abroad faced any difficulty. He directed the traffic police to prepare a traffic plan with wide space for vehicle parking and to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city on the occasion of the Mushaira.

Mr Rajput directed the heads of lodging and boarding, transport, reception and publication sub-committees to submit their requirements in three days so that the same could be arranged within time. He directed the heads of sub-committees for different tasks to complete their assignments by May 16.

The naib nazim said that the district government had made the holding of international Mushaira its annual feature to revive old cultural glory of Hyderabad and also because such cultural gatherings created brotherhood and love among different sections of society.

He said that more than 30 poets from different countries and provinces of Pakistan would present their poetry at the Mushaira.
