RDA to have regular DG
By Our Reporter
RAWALPINDI, April 16: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) would have its first regular director general and DCO Irfan Elahi is strong candidate for the job. In past the RDA used to be headed by retired army officers for the last 15 years on contract basis. However, this time the chief of the civic agency would be appointed on regular basis.
At present, DCO Rawalpindi Irfan Elahi is working as additional director general RDA after the Punjab government terminated Brig (retired) Saeed Baig as RDA head in the wake of the decision to terminate all army and civil officers working in various institutions.
Official sources told Dawn on Wednesday the DCO would be replaced by executive district officer (EDO-Revenue) Jamal Mustafa on the recommendations of a senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N).
They said that Mr Elahi would most probably be appointed as director general RDA on permanent basis.
Some senior RDA officials said that the reputation of Mr Elahi among the staff of the civic agency was good.
