ISLAMABAD, April 16: A stray bullet claimed the life of a middle-age man in Rawalpindi, while another person was killed in a road accident in the federal capital on Wednesday, police said.

Mohammad Iqbal, 50, suffered a fatal wound after being hit by a bullet fired in jubilation during a marriage ceremony in the Saddar Bairooni area.

Mr Iqbal was taken to the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Meanwhile, a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident in the capital city on Wednesday.

Police said Saeen Masih, 55, suffered multiple injuries when a passenger bus hit him while he was crossing the Islamabad Highway near Zia Masjid. He was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) where he died.
