Drawings, paintings go on display
ISLAMABAD, April 16: An exhibition of exquisite drawings and paintings by Kamal Hyat was previewed at Nomad Art Gallery on Wednesday.
More than 30 art pieces have been put on display, featuring human figure in bright and dull colours to reflect various inspirations and moods.
The artist has used the medium of oil on board and paper, line work, water colours, pastels and mixed media in his works of bold compositions and vibrant hues.
Hyat has participated in the annual exhibition of the Punjab Artists Association for many years and also held a solo exhibition at the World Bank.
“His compositions are bold and experimental while his perspective is ‘local’ in imagery and the choice of colours is aesthetically appealing,” said Nageen Hyat, Director of the gallery.
About his work, the artist said, “Man has expressed himself by powerful images in stone, wood and on the surfaces of caves in a quest to understand himself and communicate with the external world, I see my work as a continuity of the same journey.”
“My art is rooted in contemporary experience and I seek to recapture images in the form of line and colour,” he remarked.
The exhibition would be inaugurated by High Commissioner of Bangladesh Yasmeen Murshed on April 17 and continue till April 30.—APP
