Former Sindh minister arrested
RATODERO (Larkana), April 15: Former Sindh minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader Haji Altaf Hussain Unnar was arrested on Tuesday from his house in Aliabad village in the Larkana district.
A heavy contingent of police besieged Mr Unnar’s house and arrested in two cases – murder of TV journalist Munir Sangi, who was shot dead in 2006, and firing on Dr Azra Pechuho during by-elections for the PS-71 (Dadu) on Feb 10, 2007.
According to police, Mr Unnar had been taken to Jamshoro.
A large number of supporters of the former minister had gathered in the village and protested against his arrest.—PPI
Our Correspondent adds from Hyderabad: Budhapur police registered a case against Mr Unnar on the complaint of PPP’s MNA Dr Azra Pechuho.
The police earlier had refused to register a case against
Mr Unnar when on March 23, 2007, the Additional District and Sessions Judge Kotri had passed orders for the registra-tion of a case against the then minister.
