Body to allot govt houses on merit

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, April 14: Federal Minister for Housing and Works Rehmatullah Kakar on Monday said a committee would be constituted very soon for allotment of government accommodation on merit.

He stated this while attending a briefing on the role and functions of the Estate Office.

The minister directed the Estate Officer to submit a detailed report on the allotments made during the period of the caretaker government.

He expressed concern over the illegal and unauthorised sale of 3,051 government-owned residential units by the occupants in Karachi and ordered suspension of Ghulam Abbas Baloch, the then estate officer, Islamabad, and joint estate officer Karachi Sarwar Jora for their involvement in the illegal sale of the quarters.
