Rs55 million for four roads
By Our Staff Reporter
LAHORE, April 14: The City District Government Lahore will complete work on the four thoroughfares in Old Anarkali area at the earliest while improving coordination among all the departments concerned.
A directive to this effect was issued by district nazim Mian Amer Mahmood while presiding over a meeting here on Monday.
Link Anarkali, Mauj Darya, Lodge and Nabha roads were being reconstructed at a cost of Rs55 million.
The nazim directed executive district officer (works) Rana Ghaus that arrangements should be made to keep the signals working for better traffic management in one of the busiest commercial centres of the city. Road and lane marking, median construction would also be helpful for the purpose.
In order to keep the roads serviceable for a longer period, drains should be constructed to minimise the chances of rainwater accumulation there, the nazim said.
The meeting was informed that the roads were constructed some 20 years ago and over 120,000 vehicles use these thoroughfares daily on an average.
Footpaths would also be constructed along these roads that had been opened for traffic.
Medians were being constructed on Mauj Darya and Link Anarkali roads that would be two-way while Nabha and Lodge roads would be one-way thoroughfares.
