Creation of new provinces urged

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, April 13: Mir Haji Tareen, chairman of the Pashtoon Province Balochistan Movement (PPBM), has urged the federal government to amend the 1973 Constitution to create new provinces on the basis of the Pakistan Resolution.

Addressing a Press conference at the Quetta Press Club on Sunday, he said that creation of new provinces would be a ‘healthy step’ and it would remove what he called a sense of deprivation among the ‘oppressed’ people of the country.

Mir Tareen said his party wanted a Pashtoon province in Balochistan to ensure justice and equal rights for the Pashtoon community.

The PPBM chairman said that creation of a new province in Balochistan would not divide the Pashtoons living in Pakistan, but would help Pashtoons get more administrative powers and rights to be treated on a par with other communities of the province.
