CPJ lauds govt move to end media curbs


NEW YORK, April 13: The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), an independent group that safeguards press freedom worldwide, has welcomed Pakistan government’s move to lift restrictions on media imposed by the previous government.

‘‘We applaud this bill and hope to see it passed swiftly into law,” CPJ executive director Joel Simon said.

He urged the authorities to sustain efforts to improve the conditions for media personnel.—APP
