Five militants killed in Kashmir: police

SRINAGAR, April 9: Indian security forces have shot dead five members of the main militant group fighting in occupied Kashmir, police said on Wednesday.

“The militants were killed in two gunbattles with police and soldiers in Doda and Reasi districts,” a police spokesman said. The districts lie south of Srinagar.

The fighting erupted on Tuesday night and carried on until Wednesday morning when troops raided two hideouts of Hizbul Mujahideen, the police spokesman said.—AFP
