Soccer team returns

By Our Sports Reporter

LHOARE, April 9: The Pakistan football team returned home from Chinese Taipei on Wednesday after failing to qualify for AFC Cup’s main round.

Pakistan, one of the top teams in group ‘A’ of the AFC Cup, besides being the South Asian champions, defeated the hosts 2-1 and Guam 9-2 but their 7-1 defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka destroyed all their hopes of playing in the event’s main round.

Sri Lanka, the unbeaten side in the qualifying round, will now be playing in the main round that is to be held in India later this year.
