LAHORE, April 9: The hearing of the appellate tribunal, which has received Shoaib Akhtar’s appeal against the ban, may be delayed for some time now as the PCB has not yet handed over the detailed judgment of its disciplinary committee’s decision to the paceman’s lawyer.

“We are still waiting for the detailed judgment of the disciplinary committee’s decision to prepare our case,” Shoaib’s lawyer Bilal Minto told Dawn.

But Nadeem Akram, PCB Director Human Resources, says he still hasn’t received a copy of the detailed judgment from Munir Hafeez, the head of the disciplinary committee.

When asked whether the PCB had been contacted over it, Bilal said they had already requested the authorities for a copy, insisting the case could not be proceeded without receiving the detailed judgement.

Munir’s committee decision was announced on April 1 in Islamabad by the PCB chief Dr Nasim Ashraf. Three days later, Shoaib, using his legal right, submitted an appeal against the ban.

While receiving Shoaib’s application, the PCB Chief Operating Officer Shafqat Naghmi had said: “The detailed judgment will be handed over to Shoaib’s lawyer on Monday, since the board office is about to close today [Friday].”

When asked about the fate of the detailed judgement on Tuesday, Naghmi was of the view that Nadeem was in a better position to provide an answer regarding the matter.

However, Nadeem said, “I will pass on the judgement from the disciplinary committee to the lawyers as soon as I receive it myself.

“It takes time to write detailed judgements but we have already provided the lawyers with its summary,” he added.
