KARACHI, April 9: The vice-chancellor of Karachi University has directed the deans, campus security adviser and students’ adviser to finalise arrangements for resumption of teaching activities from April 11 (both morning and evening programmes).

Public dealing as well as research and other activities on the campus meanwhile continued as usual, said a press release issued on Wednesday.

KU authorities also contacted the provincial government for the deployment of law-enforcers on the campus to maintain law and order.

The vice-chancellor particularly directed the deans to work out a plan for conducting extra classes, even on holidays if necessary, so as to make up for the loss of time on account of recent suspension of classes.

He instructed the students’ adviser to coordinate with the students to ensure harmony and discipline among the students. However, he said, strict disciplinary action would be taken against those students who violated the university rules and became involved in activities detrimental to peace on the campus. The students of the KU have been directed to display their identity cards at the entry gates.

Convocation

The University of Karachi has extended the last date for the submission of registration forms and fee for attending the forthcoming convocation of the institution till April 19.

According to a notification issued by the university registrar on Wednesday, all the candidates who have passed Honours, BS, MD, MPhil, PhD, DLit, DSc degrees from 2007 onwards and not submitted their forms have been directed to contact the convocation camp office, located near Silver Jubilee Gate, on the campus premises.

Fee concession

The university, meanwhile, invited applications for fee concession for the two semesters.

Fee concession will be allowed to those studying in second semester of BS (Hons) and Masters. This facility will continue till third semester falling in 2009, subject to completion of all courses of the academic session from July 2008 to June 2009.

The prescribed application forms can be obtained free of cost from the deputy registrar (academic) office, located in the administration block of the varsity from April 30.

MBBS, BDS exams

The university has notified all affiliated medical colleges that the examination forms and fee of First Professional MBBS Part-B Supplementary Examination 2008 and First Professional BDS Supplementary Exams 2008 will be accepted from April 14 to 26.

The fee for the MBBS exams will be Rs2,150, including sports fee of Rs50, while it will be Rs2,300 for the BDS exams.—Agencies
