KARACHI: KU seeks deployment of law-enforcers

KARACHI, April 9: The vice-chancellor of Karachi University has directed the deans, campus security adviser and students’ adviser to finalise arrangements for resumption of teaching activities from April 11 (both morning and evening programmes).

Public dealing as well as research and other activities on the campus meanwhile continued as usual, said a press release issued on Wednesday.

KU authorities also contacted the provincial government for the deployment of law-enforcers on the campus to maintain law and order.

The vice-chancellor particularly directed the deans to work out a plan for conducting extra classes, even on holidays if necessary, so as to make up for the loss of time on account of recent suspension of classes.

He instructed the students’ adviser to coordinate with the students to ensure harmony and discipline among the students. However, he said, strict disciplinary action would be taken against those students who violated the university rules and became involved in activities detrimental to peace on the campus. The students of the KU have been directed to display their identity cards at the entry gates.
