PN to hold wargames

Published April 6, 2008

BEIJING, April 5: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Afzal Tahir said on Saturday that Pakistan would host another naval exercise --- of the “Aman” (peace) series --- in March next year.

Talking to media personnel here, he expressed the hope that the Chinese navy would participate in the exercises along with the navies of several other countries in the Pakistani waters.

The exercises would help enhance stability in the world maritime domain.

The Pakistani naval chief will be the chief guest at the launching of the first F-22P Frigate for Pakistan — PNS Zulfiqar — at the Hudong Shipyard in Shanghai on Monday.

“We were very happy to see the PLA Navy ships operating with the other navies of the world in Pakistani waters,” Adm Tahir said while referring to their participation in the multi-national exercises conducted last year.—APP
