KARACHI, April 5: Four-year-old bay filly Diamond In Dust seems poised to atone for the setback suffered a fortnight ago when she confronts her opponents in the top division of class VII of the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

The filly from the stables of Syed Ismail Shah settled for the second spot on Pakistan Day (March 23) after being beaten by The Victorious by two-and-a-half lengths.

She will have to overcome at least two speedy colts, Tube Jee and Mr Mention Not, to accomplish the task in a field of 13 runners.

Five-year-old chestnut mare Abhi Abhi is tipped to open her New Year account should she land the feature event, the class III and IV, the seventh race on the card to be run over six furlongs.

Though she has been placed in the two previous runs, victory eluded her. Her likely challengers are two form colts Discreet Cat and Cash Flow.

The Popular Group Of Industries Cup, which is the supporting six-furlong race, will be a two-way tie between the filly The Victorious and the bay Vice Admiral.

The former is on course for making it two wins on the trot while the latter is aspiring for a hat-trick. We recommend The Victorious to land the cup. Besides three-year-old bay filly Moomal is also in contention and, if tried, can upset all calculations.

They are likely to be followed by chestnut Terrorist.

Four-year-old filly Moon Baby should reassert to pick her fourth race of the year by claiming the eighth and concluding race. Filly Leopard Of Arab and bay Rokara are likely to oppose Moon Baby.

Either of the two — colt Walayat or mare Royal Loyalty — should land the opener.

In the next, mare Sonia seems to make amends while seven-year-old chestnut mare Blind Date should stretch her winning run in the third.

Filly Midnight Furry is our fancy in the fourth race which has attracted 18 horses.

A card of eight races — first five to be run over five furlongs and the last three to six — has been drawn for the day. The first race gets into action at 1.00pm.
