Wahid, Suleman fight hard to reach semis

KARACHI, April 5: Abdul Wahid Shaikh and Rasheed Suleman struggled into the semi-finals of the KC doubles handicap snooker tournament when they overcame Asim Ghani and Dileep Perwani in five frames here on Friday.

The winners squandered a 2-1 lead to be tied 2-2 before bouncing back to claim the decisive frame and the match.

The scores were: 30-60, 84-1, 71-44, 31-66, 78-48.

Three more pairs — Sajid Wali and Shehroz Silat, Farhan Majeed and Yasir Yaqoob and Asadullah and Tariq Ashraf also made it to the last-four stage.

Results:

Quarter-finals: Abdul Wahid Shaikh/Rasheed Suleman bt Asim Ghani/Dileep Perwani 3-2 (30-60, 84-1, 71-44, 31-66, 78-48); Sajid Wali/Shehroz Silat bt M. Ali Chandna/Arif Jameel 3-0 (68-53, 64-49, 62-54); Farhan Majeed/Yasir Yaqoob bt Mazhar Soni/Munir Colombo 3-1 (48-38, 52-66, 68-38, 73-29); Tariq Ashraf/Asadullah bt Rizwan Jumbo/Kamran Suriya 3-1 (52-61, 73-48, 78-40, 59-37).
