TOBA TEK SINGH, April 5: Hundreds of workers of shoe manufacturing factories took out a rally here on Saturday to protest price-hike and meagre wages.
The workers started their rally from Kamal Chowk and after marching on city roads reached the local press club.
Addressing the protesters, their leaders said that they were being paid wages which were determined in 1989 and since then prices of essential commodities had skyrocketed but the factory owners were refusing to raise their wages. They also threatened to go on a strike if their salaries were not enhanced.
ABDUCTED: Ten people allegedly kidnapped a girl from Nawab Bhoti locality in Chuttiana police precincts on Friday night.
According to the police, Falak Sher complained that his niece, Farzana Bibi, of Moza Shahpur, was staying with him as a guest. Idrees, Majeed, Salam and their six accomplices came on two cars and abducted her on gunpoint from outside his house on Friday night.
The police are raiding to recover the girl after registering a case on Saturday.
