Yasir ousts Farhan to enter CAS final

ISLAMABAD, April 4: Confident Yasir Butt had no difficulty in beating Farhan Mehboob in straight games to enter the 6th Chief of Army Staff International Squash Championship final.
He will face Aamir Atlas who disposed off second seed Jonathan Kemp of England in the second semi-final played at Mushaf Squash Complex on Friday.
Poor refereeing gave an edge to Yasir as he proved too good for Farhan who lost most points while hitting the tin.
In the first game Farhan hit at the tin on the game ball when the score was 10-6.
Yasir, took full advantage of his height as Farhan struggled hard to regain his command over the game.
Yasir maintained consistency on scoring good points against Farhan.
The final score was 11-6, 11-8, 11-9 in the 30-minute fixture.
Talking to Dawn Yasir said, “There was already some pressure on Farhan as in the quarter-final I defeated the Malaysian Ong Beng Hee who was top seed in the tournament.
He remarked that he had gained immense confidence after defeating the Ong.
In the second semi-final, fourth seed Aamir Atlas beat second seed Jonathan Kemp of England in a 32-miute game 11-8, 11-10, 11-10. Kemp, talking to Dawn said that some bad decisions had an impact on his performance and he lost the game.
He further stated that even the crowd was backing him and the game turned in favour of Atlas in the second and third game.
The Britisher said he had erred at the crucial moment of the game which resulted in his defeat. The final will be played at 2.00pm on Saturday.
