HARIPUR, April 2: Former provincial minister and member of NWFP Assembly from Haripur, Akhtar Nawaz Khan, was arrested here on Wednesday when a local court cancelled his application for bail before arrest in a murder case.

Mr Khan, his father Gohar Rehman Khan, son Babar Nawaz Khan, nephew Samiullah Khan, brothers Saeed Khan, Mehr Nishad Khan and maternal uncle Jehanzeb Khan were nominated in an FIR on February 20 when a person was shot dead and seven others were injured in an election-related clash.

The deceased Haji Anwar Khan was the paternal uncle of tehsil nazim Iftikhar Ahmed Khan.

A criminal case under sections 302, 324, 348 and 149 PPC was registered with Khalabat Township police station against the accused.
