HYDERABAD, April 2: The leaders of Dadu Ittehad, who ruled the district unchallenged before general elections, accused the Pakistan People’s Party on Wednesday of unleashing terror against the supporters, nazims and councillors of the Ittehad.

Ittehad leaders, former MPA Ehsan Ali Jatoi, senior Ali Mohammad Soomro and Pir Najeebullah said at a news conference at the press club that contrary to the prime minister’s announcement he made during his maiden speech that his government would not indulge in political victimisation the PPP MPAs had started terrorising and harassing their political opponents in the district.

They said that the poor primary teachers, peons and policemen were being transferred to remote areas, senior teachers were being superseded by their juniors and innumerable cases had been registered against naib nazims, councillors and district council members as a punishment for supporting the Ittehad.

Police were conducting raids on the houses of even elders of the villages and supporters to pressurise them to switch sides and the district nazim, taluka nazims and union council nazims were being threatened with no-confidence motions, they alleged.

They said that the PPP was using DPO, SP, TPOs and SHOs of various police stations to harass and intimidate the Ittehad leaders and supporters.

They clarified that they had accepted PPP’s victory in the district but they would not leave their supporters alone.

They urged the district police to stop victimisation of their supporters and advised their opponents not to forget the law of divine retribution and the wrath of people.

They claimed that they had never victimised their opponents when they were in power and Liaquat Ali Jatoi and the district government served people without any discrimination.
