HYDERABAD, April 2: Welcoming the first policy statement of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui has said that with the revival of student unions a great opportunity had been provided to the youth to become future leaders of the country.

He was speaking at a debate contest on “Media is playing negative role in our society” organised by Bureau of Students, Tutorial, Guidance, Counselling Services and Co-Curricular Activities (STAGS) at Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium on Wednesday.

A large number of students were present on the occasion.

The vice-chancellor said that University of Sindh had always supported student unions and a great responsibility now rests upon the shoulders of students.

He said with the resumption of student unions an excellent platform will be available for students and with that a trained leadership will emerge.

He expressed the hope that the students would become more conscious of their responsibilities.

Mr Siddiqui while appreciating students’ performance in the debate contest said that media had played a pivotal role in the society for its reformation and development.—Bureau
