UAF to Hold horse, cattle show

FAISALABAD, April 1: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) will organise a three-day horse and cattle show from April 6. Vice-Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmed will inaugurate the event.

The three-day show will be held at the exhibition venue of the university on Jail Road adjacent to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.

UAF spokesman Qamar Bukhari said nearly 500 horse riders and tent peggers would participate in the event and over 250 milch animals (cows and buffaloes) would be displayed.

Vice-chancellor Dr Iqrar had constituted various committees to make the event a success, he said.

Bukhari said Dr Muhammad Aslam would be the chief judge of various competitions and faculty of animal husbandry dean Dr Muhammad Younas, Dr Ehsanullah, Dr Muhammad Amjad, Dr Munir Ahmad and Haji Muhammad Shafiq will be co-judges.

He said the university had an old history of organising tent-pegging competitions and contributed to animal contests.

Former provincial minister Syed Husain Jahanian Gardezi, Malik Fateh Sher Joeya, Malik Sikandar Tawana, Malik Muhammad Yar Khichi, Tahir Husain, M Aslam Khan, Dr Riaz Ahmad Virk and Dr Amir Saeed are leading horse riders and tent peggers.
