Freed haris demandrelease of colleagues
By Our Correspondent
MIRPURKHAS, March 31: Thirty-three peasants and their women and children who were freed recently by police from illegal detention after a raid in Ghani Maher village, staged a demonstration at Market Chowk on Monday, demanding release of their 10 colleagues still in detention.
The first additional and sessions judge directed the SHO of Kot Ghulam Mohammad to carry out the raid and get the detained peasants released after one Khemo Kolhi had told the court five days ago that local landlords Allah Dino Maher and Mubeen Maher had detained 43 peasants including women and children at their lands in Ghani Maher village.
Mr Khemo alleged that the landlords subjected the detained peasant families to hard labour work and did not maintain any accounts of their crop nor made them payment of the crop.
Bhoori, Lakhmi, Rani, Kewal, Shanti and others are still in illegal detention of the landlord.
The SHO of Kot Ghulam Mohammad Lala Javed conducted raid on the village on Sunday and got 33 peasants released including Kanji, Rano, Ganga Ram, Puno, Ms Kako, Miran and Shanti Anita.
He said that the remaining 10 peasants were not ready to leave the village and stated they appeared to working willingly and did not seem detained in any way.
