Musharraf says he’ll cooperate with new govt

KARACHI, March 30: President Pervez Musharraf said on Sunday he would like to extend cooperation to the government at the centre and in the provinces with a single objective in mind — the progress and development of the country and welfare and wellbeing of the people.

He was speaking at a farewell dinner hosted by caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Abdul Qadir Halepota, for the caretaker Sindh cabinet.

President Musharraf said he believed that the responsibility of any government anywhere in the world was to ensure the security of the nation, its progress and development and welfare and wellbeing of its people.

“I only wish and hope that the future governments will keep this definition in mind. First and foremost is security of the country from any external or internal threats. The second responsibility is to ensure the progress and development of the nation,” the president said.—APP
