New fares notified


LAHORE, March 22: The Punjab transport department notified on Saturday new fares for inter-city and intra-city routes.

A notification said that the fares had been revised with immediate effect in view of the increase in prices of petroleum products and operational cost of vehicles.

For inter-city routes the fare had been increased by seven paisas. The per passenger per kilometre fare on metalled roads would now be 52 paisas, on plain kutcha roads 53 paisas and on hilly roads, notified by the communication and works department, 54 paisas while the fare of air-conditioned transport vehicles had already been deregulated. The fare of buses, mini-buses, station and other passenger wagons for urban (intra-city) routes had been increase from Rs2 to Rs3. The revised fare for a journey of 0 to 4 km would now be Rs8, 4.1 to 8 km Rs10, 8.1 km to 14 km Rs13, 14.1 to 22km Rs15, 22.1 and above Rs17 per passenger.

The existing fare for a journey of 0 to 4 km were Rs6, 4.1 to 8 km Rs8, 8.1 km to 14 km Rs10, 14.1 to 22km Rs12, 22.1 and above Rs14 per passenger. — Staff Reporter
