Doctors’ strike

Published March 21, 2008

MIANWALI, March 20: On the call of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), doctors of all state-run hospitals in Mianwali observed a complete strike to protest what they said against the apathetic attitude of police on Thursday.

The doctors, who had announced their strike notice three days back, also set up a protest camp outside the DHQ Hospital.

A spokesman for doctors said the police did not add Anti-Terrorism Act section in an FIR launched against the accused who attempted to take the life of Mochh BHU in charge Dr Umair Khan by firing at his car some 10 days ago.

DPO Malik Pervaiz Bandial said the FIR was launched against accused Amir Khan, 21, under sections 324, 186 and 427 PPC. He said the ATA could only be inducted into a supplementary FIR after police investigation. — Correspondent
