Robber killed in ‘gunplay’

VEHARI, March 16: A robber was killed on Sunday in a gunplay with the police near Mauza Lakhoka Kalan, Burewala tehsil.

Reports said that three robbers escaped after snatching a motorcycle from trader Muhammad Zaman at Chak 291/EB. On receiving information, the Sahooka police chased culprits.

Seeing law enforcers coming close to them, the fleeing robbers opened fire on them. The police also retaliated. Later, the shootout continued for some half an hour that left a robber dead. However, his two accomplices managed to escape.

DPO Malik Tassaduq Hayat said the dead robber, identified as Arshad alias Arshadi, was involved in the murder of Khanewal Sadar SHO Rana Saeed.
