KARACHI: Officials suspended

Published March 17, 2008

KARACHI, March 16: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has issued orders to suspend EDO Akhtar Abbas, DO Aamir Hussain and DDO Saeed Akhtar of the City District Government Karachi’s (CDGK) transport department for negligence of duties.

The suspended officers were also stripped of all perks and issued show-cause notice, according to a statement issued by the city government on Sunday.

Mr Kamal inspected the ongoing work for the construction of bus stops on signal-free corridor during a visit from Nazimabad to Karsaz. He expressed displeasure over the officials concerned, particularly EDO Transport, for marking wrong place to establish bus stops and subsequently causing a delay in the completion of work.

While reprimanding the officials, the nazim said that any carelessness in public welfare works would not be tolerated and the officers found responsible would be given punishment under the law.—APP
