ATTOCK, March 14: Newly elected MPA of PML-N from Attock and former Punjab minister Col (Rtd) Shujah Khanzada on Friday met the Punjab Governor Lt-Gen Khalid Maqbool (retired) during his arrival here on Friday.
The MPA arrived unexpectedly at district police headquarters in presence of media to meet the governor. On the arrival, Mr Khanzada was stopped by the police personal at the main gate of district police headquarters as he was not among the invitees. Later, he was allowed to enter on the permission of some police officials, who were present near the main gate to receive the Punjab governor.
After short meeting with the governor at district police headquarters, Mr Khanzada told local newsmen that he met the Governor in his personal capacity on his invitation as both being army officers had served together at many stations besides enjoying friendship since long.
In 2002 elections Col Shujah Khanzada won the seat of PP-16 from the platform of PML-Q and later appointed as provincial minister Inspection/ monitoring Punjab. He also enjoyed good relations with Chaudhrys till the dissolution of Punjab assembly.
But in election 2008, he was not considered by the PML-Q’s leadership for the same seat, and he developed serious differences with party leadership. Later he quit king’s party on December 14 and decided to contest election as Independent capacity. After wining election, Mr Khanzada joined PML-N unconditionally.
However it is being believed that his name also includes in the list of coming Punjab ministers.
