KARACHI, March 13: Saeed bin Nasir scored his second century of the Pentangular Cup match against NWFP, but despite his heroics, Balochistan were heading for defeat at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar on Thursday.

By stumps on day three, Balochistan were 243-4 in the second innings after the home side had obtained a substantial lead of 356 on the first innings.

Saeed, the 28-year-old Karachi batsman, followed 149 not out in the first innings with an unbeaten 118 (170 balls, 13 fours and three sixes).

Sohaib Maqsood, who made 60 in the first innings, hit 70 (69 balls, 10 fours and two sixes) while adding 121 with Saeed in the fourth-wicket stand.

Earlier, Yasir Hameed, the Pakistan opener, was dismissed for exactly 300 after resuming at 265. His grand 367-ball knock, lasting seven hours and 52 minutes, contained 49 boundaries.

Younis Khan declared his team’s first innings at 664-6. The skipper scored 44 and Yasir Shah 51 in the unfinished partnership of 108 runs.

Paceman Abdur Rauf claimed all six wickets for 193.
