PESHAWAR: Three brothers among seven killed

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Feb 27: About seven people were killed and two injured in three separate incidents in the metropolis here on Wednesday.

A land dispute at Kaga Wala village, in the limits of the Badbher police station, led to the killing of five persons from both sides of the rival groups.

Eyewitnesses said the parties used sophisticated arms against each other killing the persons on the spot. Those killed were identified as Tahir, Firdaus, Idrees, Lebas Khan and Gul Sher. An official of the local police station said the bodies remained lying in an agriculture farm for many hours and with interference by the police, the firing stopped, and the bodies were taken away.

Meanwhile, a woman was crushed to death by a flying coach and two others were injured on the main Grand Trunk Road near Jhagra village. The injured were identified as Abidullah and Zulikha, wife of Inayatullah.

In another incident, a 25-year-old man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself to a ceiling fan in his room at Pir Bala Karkhano village, in the limits of Mathra police station.

Police said Ulfat Hussein, resident of Jehlum, was living alone at his residence as his family members had gone to their native village in Punjab. His neighbours, when felt his absence for some days, informed the local police who found his body hanging. His family has reportedly termed the death an incident of suicide.
