PESHAWAR, Feb 21: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has disconnected 22 connections of various government departments in Mardan circle against non-payment of dues.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, a Pesco spokesman said that total outstanding dues against these 22 connections were Rs11.125 million. Nine connections of public health engineering department were disconnected, four each of irrigation and education departments and Xen Scarp tubewells and one of SDO Baolori Nala.

The disconnection and recovery campaign against defaulter government departments had been launched on the directives of Pesco chief executive Sakhi Marjan, and a number of defaulter departments had already been disconnected while a large number of others had deposited millions of rupees to avoid disconnections, said the Pesco spokesman.
