JACOBABAD: Protest against kidnapping

By Our Correspondent

JACOBABAD, Feb 3: A protest procession was taken out here on Sunday by the Pakistan Medical Association against the kidnapping of Dr Ghulam Qadir Talani and Dr Kundan Das.

The procession started from the Mandir street and the protesters were carrying banners, placards and raised slogans for the recovery of the doctors.

After marching on Mandir street, Quaid-i-Azam and DCO roads they reached the press club. The protesters were led by Dr Khalid Hussain Bhangar, Dr Aftab Ahmed, Dr Ghansham Das and Dr Ramchand.

Speaking on the occasion, the PMA leaders said that nine days had passed since the kidnapping of Dr Kundan from the Jafarabad area in Balochistan and Dr Qadir was kidnapped three days ago from Pachooha railway crossing in Jacobabad. They said the police had failed to recover the doctors.

They said that after these incidents doctors are feeling unsafe to visit outdoor patients.

They warned that if the doctors were not freed in 24 hours, they would close their clinics and would block the roads.

They said the abductions had become the order of the day in Jacobabad which had paralysed the civic activities.

MAN KILLED: A man, Bhagan Bugti, 36, was killed in Jacobabad because of old enmity on Sunday.

Bhagan was standing at a bus stand when four armed men reached there and opened fire on him killing him on the spot.

Police reached there and arrested an attacker, Qadir Bux Lashari, while the three others escaped. Qadir told reporters that Bhagan had killed his brother four years ago and he had avenged the murder.

The body was taken to the Civil Hospital for autopsy.

No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.
