Wasim shines in Zahoor GBSS win


KARACHI, Jan 17: Wasim Tahir missed a century by mere five runs but his knock helped Zahoor GBSS to an 87-run victory over APWA GBSS in a second-stage match of the PCB National School Championship (Karachi Region) at the board’s academy ground on Wednesday.

Wasim hit 12 boundaries and a six his in his 95 as Zahoor GBSS scored posted 216 before being dismissed in 40 overs. APWA GBSS, in reply, were bowled out for 129 in 30.3 overs.

Meanwhile, Royal Academy inflicted a five-wicket defeat on St. Paul’s School at the PCB Academy Ground. Faraz Ahmed and Hasnain Raza picked three wickets apiece for the victors.

ZAHOOR GBSS 216 in 40 overs (Wasim Tahir 95, Shahzaib Nazar 31; Mehroz Baig 3-40, Mohammad Shahbaz 2-27); APWA GBSS 129 in 30.3 overs (Zubair Malik 25; Salman Khan 2-16, Shahzaib 2-18, Masroor Zahoor 2-45).

ST PAUL 130 in 33.1 overs (Kumail Naqvi 17, Bilal Sheikh 17; Faraz Ahmed 3-22, Hasnain Raza 3-22, Shahrukh Pervez 2-1); ROYAL ACADEMY 103-5 in 29.3 overs (Faraz Ali 38, Osama Arif 15; Ammar Latif 3-23, Ali Zafar 2-22).

SADIQ PUBLIC 102 in 30.3 overs (Wajahat Ali 28, Saadullah 15, Mohammad Ahsan 4-7, Adnan Khan 4-27); SHAHEEN PUBLIC 105-3 in 14 overs (Adil Ali 34, Jahangir Ali 19; Amjad Ali Khan 2-17).
