SAHIWAL, Jan 3: Two members of a family were killed, while four others, including the car driver, were injured in a road accident on Sahiwal-Faisalabad Road late on Wednesday night.

A family was returning to its home in Faisalabad’s Madina Town after attending a marriage in Arifwala when their speeding car rammed into a donkey cart. Resultantly, Gul Muhammad and his nephew, Hakeem Khan, died at the scene and children Saeed Khan (12), Aqeel Khan (10) and Munni Rani (8) and driver Zafar were injured seriously.

The injured were admitted to a local public hospital, where Zafar was said to be critical.

PROTEST: Hundreds of lawyers, on the call of the Pakistan Bar Council and the Lahore High Court Bar Association, staged a rally to condemn the assassination of Benazir Bhutto and removal of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

The protesting lawyers, led by District Bar Association President Sheikh Muhammad Usman and others, raised anti-government slogans.

The rally, which started from district courts and marched through the city, dispersed at the barroom peacefully. The protesters, wearing black armbands, hoisted black flags at the barroom and boycotted the courts.
