Cold wave continues


PESHAWAR, Jan 3: The cold wave that has been making things difficult for the people of the NWFP continued on Thursday.

According to an official of the Met Office, the cold spell would continue for the next several days. But if the cloudy weather persisted, the severity of the chilly weather would minimise, he added.

School-going children are at great risk of catching various infections and diseases and doctors have advised people to take precautionary measures against the cold.

The lowest temperature was recorded in Kalam, with 9 degrees Centigrade below zero. The following temperatures were recorded in the other cities/towns: -1°C in Peshawar; -2.2°C in Chitral; -6°C in Drosh; -2.2°C in Balakot; -4.4°C in Dir; -2.5°C in Saidu Sharif; -3°C in Risalpur; -1°C in Kakul; 1°C in Kohat; 0.1°C in Bannu; 1.5°C in D.I. Khan; and 2°C in Chirat.

The met office has forecast rain in the upper parts of the NWFP in the next 24 hours.
